Product Note: Altum-PT is an optimized 3-in-1 solution for advanced remote sensing and agricultural research. It seamlessly integrates an ultra-high-resolution panchromatic imager, a new thermal imager that provides twice the ground resolution of the previous Altum, and five discrete spectral bands, allowing plant-level applications such as early-stage stand counting. Altum-PT also features a global shutter for distortion-free results, open APIs, and a new storage device allowing for up to 2 captures/second
multispectral capture
Simultaneous capture of multispectral, thermal and panchromatic bands eliminates the need for data alignment in post-processing and enables high-resolution outputs such as RGB color, NDVI, NDRE, CIR.
User-driven design
Our products are designed based on customer feedback. The Altum-PT features twice the spatial resolution of previous Altum models, faster capture speed, and RTK support for DJI M300 drones.
Made in USA
All MicaSense series sensors are designed, manufactured and developed in the USA.
Use cases and applications
Specifically designed for UAV and vegetation mapping
- Detection of pressure problems and blockages in irrigation systems: Altum-PT thermal images can help identify irrigation blockages and leaks through the cooling effects of water or lack thereof on vegetation and soil. Overwatered areas will appear noticeably cooler than the rest of the field. Non-irrigated areas will show higher temperatures than the rest of the field.
- Irrigation Scheduling: Determining the time, frequency and duration of irrigation is a critical factor in production agriculture as it directly affects the health of the crops. Altum-PT thermal imaging provides valuable water management information, helping irrigation managers determine correct irrigation and identify leaks or blockages in the irrigation system due to differences in plant cover and soil temperature.
- Detection of diseases, pests and nutrient deficiencies: With Altum-PT’s high-resolution multispectral images, users have a better opportunity to identify problems affecting canopy physiology. Diseases, insects, and nutrient problems often cause physiological damage before symptoms are visible in RGB. Using the different multispectral and composite indices of the panoramic sharpening data, these problems can be detected earlier.
- Plant Phenotyping: Manual measurement of plant characteristics is time-consuming. Altum-PT captures more data in less time, allowing researchers to more easily understand how different traits react to different growing conditions.
- Fruit Yield Estimates: Popular fruit yield estimation methods, such as manual fruit counting or time series analysis, are time-consuming and expensive. Altum-PT offers a combination of high-resolution RGB, multispectral and thermal imaging, enabling more accurate yield predictions by enabling algorithm-based fruit counting and temperature analysis.
- Predicting water stress: Canopy temperature is a valuable indicator of plant stress. The Altum-PT thermal imaging camera allows farmers to periodically assess the physiological state of plants and detect subtle changes in canopy temperature that could be an indicator of water stress.
